If you are reading this book, you must be someone who is interested in the other inhabitants of this planet. In this particular case, your concern is for mammals that are becoming more difficult to find. And I am sure that you, like me, want to help protect them.
Very well then, the first thing we have to do is to identify these animals. Otherwise how can we protect them if we don’t even know that they exist? And since we live in a country in the American tropics, I would like to begin with the ones that live in the jungles and forests of our region.
The purpose of this book is to help us learn together about some of the fascinating animals that share the planet with us, to understand a little about how scientists classify them, the areas they prefer and the foods they like, and learn about their family life as well as their enemies.
This way we can help with their conservation so that boys and girls in the future can also see them when they visit protected areas for wildlife, instead of only knowing them from photographs, books or television programs.
